Why Small Business Saturday Matters to Me (and Why Your Support Always Has)
From the founder of Lemonhead.LA with gratitude, pride, and a whole lot of sparkle
Small Business Saturday comes around every year, sometimes feeling like another marketing moment in a season full of them. But underneath all the noise, something real is happening.
Small business isn’t a category or a trend.
It’s people.
It’s sacrifice.
It’s heart.
It’s late nights, early mornings, ideas scribbled in notebooks, trello lists a mile long, and a team of INCREDIBLE humans giving everything they have to bring something meaningful into the world.
What this day means to me

When I think about Small Business Saturday, I don’t think about revenue or order volume. I think about the four women who run Lemonhead.LA. The ones who pack your orders, design your content, make your products, organize the chaos, and pour their talent into every jar.
I think about the countless freelance makeup artists over the past 10 years who could always count on us for work when they were between gigs. I think about the community of Artists who trust our products for their clients, their craft, and their creative expression.
I think about the customers who have been with us since the beginning, along with the ones discovering us for the first time. People who believe in an indie brand making glitter by hand instead of by machine.
I also think about the communities we have supported along the way. Over the years we have donated product, proceeds, time, and creativity to causes we care about, especially those uplifting artists, young creators, LGBTQ+ youth, and local nonprofits. Those contributions exist because people like you choose to shop small.
Why your support matters

When you buy from a small beauty brand, you are not fueling a boardroom or a corporation. You are supporting:
• A team that hand-crafts glitter in a tiny studio
• Women who genuinely love what they do
• Artists who rely on this industry for their livelihood
• A brand that gives back to creative communities
• Real people who feel every order personally
Every purchase keeps our lights on.
Every restock keeps our freelancers working.
Every tag, share, and kind word helps our brand grow in ways big companies don’t experience.
Small business isn’t a trend. It is a heartbeat.

Nearly half of the U.S. workforce works for small businesses. Real people, real families, real dreams.
Lemonhead.LA is proud to be one of them. Proof that something handcrafted, original, and deeply loved can thrive when a community chooses to champion it.
As we head into this Small Business Saturday

I’m grateful.
Grateful for our team.
Grateful for the artists who believe in us.
Grateful for the customers who choose indie beauty in a world full of options.
Grateful that creativity still wins when people support the individuals behind the work.
Whether you shop with us today or any day, whether you buy a single Spacepaste or simply cheer us on from afar, thank you.
It all matters. It all shapes the world we live in. And we are honored to be part of yours.
